July 9 is National Sugar Cookie Day! This easy recipe is one to keep in your arsenal for any occasion. It takes less than 30 minutes and produces up to 3 dozen cookies, depending on how big you make them.
Ingredients
1 cup Always Save Butter, softened
1 cup Always Save Granulated Sugar + ¼ cup for dipping dough
1 egg
2 ½ tsp Always Save Vanilla Extract
½ tsp almond extract
2 ½ cups Always Save All-Purpose Flour
½ tsp Always Save Baking Soda
½ tsp Always Save Baking Powder
¼ tsp Always Save Salt
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, cream butter and 1 cup sugar together for about 1 minute. Add egg and vanilla and almond extracts. Beat until combined. Add flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Mix until combined.
Use a tablespoon to scoop out balls of dough. Roll dough in reserved ¼ cup of sugar before placing on baking sheet.
Bake about 10 minutes or just until the cookies are set in the middle. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet out of the oven for 2 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack or waxed paper to cool completely.
Delicious with a big glass of milk or frosted!
