We all know spring cleaning isn’t something we look forward to, and it can be a chore. March doesn’t have to be madness. That’s why we made a list of our top five tips to help you breeze through cleaning and keep the madness on TV. Happy cleaning!
- Clean in sections. Don’t try and tackle everything all at once; it will only leave you frustrated. Instead, break up the cleaning into sections. You can choose to set a time limit and do what you can during that time, followed by a break. Just make sure you set a time limit for your break as well. You can also choose to pick one room to conquer each day. This allows you to see the great work you have accomplished in the space before moving on to the next one.
- Make your cleaning fun! The stress of cleaning is not fun for everyone. To change that mindset and feeling, make cleaning fun for you. Listen to upbeat music and dance your way through the chore. You can also turn it into a game with a prize at the end for the tasks you are accomplishing. Whatever will make you smile and give you the energy to keep going is perfect!
- Have the products you need. Make sure you are going into battle with the right equipment. Before you start, it is important to double-check that you have enough of the cleaning supplies you will need to get the job done. A quick run to the store for cleaners, paper towels, and trash bags is best done before you are hands-deep in a project.
- Don’t forget the forgotten spaces. We all have spaces in our living area that we forget about when it comes to cleaning time. It’s not that they aren’t important; it’s more that they are not right in front of us. As you create your game plan to conquer spring cleaning, remember to check places like closets, outdoor storage bins, and around the washer and dryer.
- Call in the reinforcements! You don’t have to clean alone. Asking for help from roommates, significant others, kids, or anyone who shares your space can help speed up the process. As the saying goes, “many hands make light work.”
